Terms of use

The framework for using Cortex.

The document-preparation service, human validation, subscriptions and the responsibilities attached to your accounting files.

1. The service offered

Cortex-Compta prepares documentary and accounting files: organising documents, extracting information, checks and proposals according to the chosen path. Features and quotas are described in the subscribed offer.

Cortex prepares and proposes. You or your fiduciary review the results and validate them before they are taken into the accounts. The service does not replace professional judgement, your bookkeeping software or your legal archiving.

2. Account and access

Using the service means accepting these terms and having the capacity to enter a contract. You must be at least 18, provide accurate information and be authorised to act for the organisation concerned.

You are responsible for your credentials and the access you grant your team. Do not share your credentials and report any suspicious access.

3. Offers, trial and billing

Prices, features, volumes and trial conditions are shown on the pricing page and in the checkout path. Check the total price, applicable taxes and the billing period before you confirm payment.

Processing volume is expressed in pages and credits according to the offer. An estimate in number of documents rests on an assumption of pages per document; it is not an extra quota.

The subscription renews on the chosen period unless cancelled. If you cancel, it stays active until the end of the period already paid, then does not renew. Cancellation does not give rise to a refund, subject to mandatory rules. Amounts already due remain payable.

4. Your documents and your decisions

You must be authorised to transmit the documents you deposit, including those of your clients. You keep ownership of your documents and the data they contain.

Check extractions, accounts, VAT codes, amounts and proposed matches. A balanced entry or a finished treatment is not a validation of the substance.

Keep originals and exports according to your duties. Also check the import result in the destination software.

5. Allowed use

The service is for professional use consistent with the offer and applicable law. Staff must act only in the workspaces they have been authorised to use.

  • Do not bypass access controls, quotas or technical limits.
  • Do not deposit unlawful content or documents without authorisation.
  • Do not undermine the security or availability of the service.
  • Do not resell the service or its components without authorisation.

6. Limits of the service

Preparation quality depends on the documents and the context available. Errors, omissions or interruptions can occur. No universal accuracy rate or time saving is guaranteed.

Exports depend on the supported formats and the rules of the destination software. Their availability is neither an official partnership nor a permanent synchronisation.

To the extent allowed by applicable law, Cortex’s liability is limited to the amount paid over the last twelve months. This limit does not remove liabilities that cannot legally be excluded.

7. Data and confidentiality

Processing conditions, processors and retention are described in the privacy policy. The end of a treatment or a subscription does not mean immediate deletion of every data category.

Ask for the necessary details before depositing documents subject to particular confidentiality or location requirements.

8. Cancellation and evolution

You can request cancellation from the billing settings. Your subscription stays active until the end of the period already paid, with no refund for cancellation, subject to mandatory rules. After that date you keep free access to consult and export your existing data, while your account exists. Cancellation does not delete the account. Check the end date shown and keep the confirmation. If you can no longer access your account, write to admin@cortex-compta.ch.

Cortex may suspend or terminate access in case of a breach of the terms, abusive use or non-payment, within applicable law.

Major changes to the service or the terms are communicated in advance. Applicable legal and contractual duties remain reserved.

9. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by Swiss law. Subject to mandatory rules, disputes fall to the courts of Geneva.
